About Dr. Davina Hijam
- DAVINA HIJAM, daughter of Hijam Tombi Singh and Smt Maimom Shanti Devi was born on 26th
February, 1979 at Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leirak, Imphal West. She passed out High School
from Little flower School, Imphal in the year 1994 (stood 9th position) and Senior school from
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Langing in 1996. She was Awarded “Manipur State Child Scientist Award 1994”,
for outstanding performance in the project “Impact of Naga Nalla in the pollution of Numbul River"
which was presented in National Children’s Science Congress (1994) held at Delhi. She passed out
her MBBS (2001) and MD Biochemistry (2006) from Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS),
Imphal under Manipur University securing highest marks in Anatomy, Pharmacology, Forensic
Medicine, General surgery, Medicine, first position with honours in Biochemistry, Community
Medicine, Microbiology and Otorhinolaryngology. She was awarded “Nodiachand Cash Memorial
Award” by RIMS for securing highest marks and Honours in Biochemistry in First MBBS examination
of Manipur University, 1998, “Professor L. Fimate’s cash Award” for securing highest mark in
Forensic Medicine, “Dr. Ibotonsana Memorial Gold Medal” of Manipur University. She was also
awarded “Kamala Devi Patni Charitable Trusties Gold Medal” of RIMS, “Best Medical Graduate Gold
Medal” of Auto & Taxi Services Association, Lamphel, Imphal, “Th. Binodkumar Singh Memorial Cash
Award” of RIMS, “Lt. Gen. V.K. Nayar Best Medical Career Award” RIMS for securing 1st position in
the entire MBBS examination 1996 batch.
Other Awards include: 1) Dr. Tonsana Memorial Gold Medal of Manipur University and Dr AD Singh
Cash award for securing highest mark in Medicine above 70% marks in the final MBBS examination
of Manipur University, 2001.2) Ch. Thambou Singh Memorial Gold Medal of Manipur University and
S.Tomchou Singh Gold Medal of Award RIMS for securing highest mark in Surgery in the final MBBS
examination of Manipur University, 2001.3) Dashmesh Endowment Prize by the Association of
Otolaryngologists of India and Professor C. Das cash prize of RIMS for securing highest mark with
honours in ENT in final MBBS examination of Manipur University, 2001. 4) Third best paper (Brig.
Ramesh Sinha Memorial Award) - 13th National conference of Association of Medical Biochemist of
India, Dec 26-28th
2005, at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa on “ Carcinoembryonic Antigen & Carbohydrate
Antigen 19-9 in Gastrointestinal Cancers”. 5) Second best paper in the scientific session (P.G.
Award paper session) on 15th April 2006 on “ Glycosylated Hemoglobin versus Blood Sugar in
monitoring Metabolic Contol on Diabetes Mellitus 6) Best paper-1

mellitus.
She had participated in around 87 conferences at international, national and state level and
presented 17 papers at various international, national and state level conferences. She had
published 43 papers in various international and national journals. She has around 17 years
teaching experience. She is an Academic editor of Asian Journal of Research in Medical and
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Member of Board of Studies, School of medical Sciences Manipur
University and Association of Medical biochemists of India . She is Peer reviewer of International
Journal of Biochemistry research and review ,British Journal of Medicine and Medical research,
Journal of complementary and alternative medical research, International Journal of Biochemistry
Research & Review. She is a recognized PG teacher of Biochemistry Dept, RIMS.
