About Dr.  Ratnakar Manjunath Shet

Dr. Ratnakar. M Shet is Assistant Professor of Genetics and Plant breeding in the department

of Biotechnology and Crop Improvement at College of Horticulture, Sirsi, Uttara Kannada,

Karnataka. He is having teaching, Research experience of nine years. He completed his B. Sc

(Agriculture), M. Sc (Agri) and Ph. D in Genetics and Plant Breeding from UAS, Bangalore,

Karnataka. He was recipient of Gold medal for Best Scholar cum Sportsmen in B. Sc

(Agriculture). He is offering courses of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Plant Biotechnology

courses to undergraduates of Horticulture degree programme. He is also having a wide exposure

in training the students on career opportunities. He trained 21 students in plant tissue culture

aspect to become as entrepreneur. He is good counselor to students for solving academic,

personal and social problems. He guided one M Sc and presently guiding one Ph D and One

Msc students in Genetics and plant breeding. He has published more than 30 research papers in

national and international peer reviewed journals. He has co-author for one competitive exam

book “Agriculture exam made easy” and author for three book chapters. He has handled four

externally funded research projects. He was the life member of Indian science congress

association in Agriculture section. He has participated and presented research papers in several

International and national conferences/ seminar/ symposium and received two best oral

presentation awards in international conference. He was invited for presentation as well as judge

for poster presentation in South East Vegetable Symposium held during 9-11 July 2019 at

Melaka, Malaysia. He is currently serving as head of Biotechnology and Crop Improvement

Department at College of Horticulture at Sirsi, Karnataka.
