About Dr. Satish Kumar

Dr. Satish Kumar is a hydrologist interested in interdisciplinary research to

understand multi-scale interactions between different components of Earth, in

general, such as fluvial and pluvial flooding, urban flood planning and

management, coal cleaning technology, and non-renewable energy resources in

particular. He gained training as a Mechanical engineer from Shivaji University

but diversified his expertise in Energy Studies and hydrologist during his Master

and PhD at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi respectively. Currently, he is a

postdoctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines)

Dhanbad where he is responsible to develop new methods and apply them in coal

mining hydrology and hydrogeology for advance understanding. He was the lead

member in the prestigious project “Drainage Master Plan 2030” of NCT of Delhi.

Presently he is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Indian Institute of Technology (Indian

School of Mines) Dhanbad and also associated with “Master Plan for Dhanbad

2030” at the institute.
