About Dr.  Aloy Chand Biswas

Dr. Aloy Chand Biswas was born on 11 th January, 1973 at a village named Srikhanda, Dist.-Purba

Barddhaman, West Bengal in a lower-middle class family mainly dependent on agriculture. His father

late Bhutnath Biswas was a village primary school teacher and mother Late Laxmi Rani Biswas was a

housewife. Dr. Biswas had to brave a lot of struggles in life to fulfil his dream to dedicate his life in

teaching profession.

After completing his graduation degree with Hons. and master degree in English and subsequently

B.Ed. degree from the University of Burdwan, his dream came true when he joined a high school as

an assistant teacher in English in 2001. He qualified the UGC-NET for December-2000 in English

and was appointed as assistant lecturer in English by CSC, W.B. at Egra Sarada-Shashi Bhusan

College under Vidyasagar University in 2003. Presently he serves the college in the capacity of an

Associate Professor of English. He has bagged his prestigious Ph. D. degree in English from

Vidyasagar University. His thesis on “V.S Naipaul’s Responses to India in Evolution” got a

tremendous applause from the adjudicators of both inside and outside the country. They pointed out

their observation that such a thesis on Naipaul in relation to his Indian responses possesses a

significant literary and socio-economic influence over India.

Dr. A. C.Biswas in his professional career has contributed more than ten scholastic papers to

different national and international journals. He has also published five book-chapters in five different

edited volumes published with ISBN. He himself has edited a book with ISBN on “Question of

Identity in the Literature of Indian Diaspora in English”. He has co-edited a Felicitation volume with

ISBN on “VEDARSI” in which a great number of scholars and administrative dignitaries of various

Universities of the country have made their literary contributions. It is also quite informative that Dr.

A C Biswas has already completed a UGC-funded MRP on “The Oedipal Tug of the Son towards His

Motherland: A Diasporic Study of V.S.Naipaul”.

Dr. A. C. Biswas has been shouldering his responsibilities as Head, Dept. of English of Egra S S B

College for long sixteen years. He has also exerted his administrative responsibilities in his college for

long twelve years as a teacher’s representative in the Governing Body , the highest powerful body of

the college. Presently he has been serving his duties to the college as co-ordinator of Internal Quality

Assurance cell, a body formed after recommendation of UGC for every HEI of India. Besides,

Dr. A.C.Biswas served the community of his locality for almost five years as programme officer of

N.S.S. of the college up to 2010 A.D.

Vision, Mission, Goal of Dr. A.C.Biswas:

Vision: To strengthen the society by promoting generous literati.

Mission: To grow interest in English Language and Literature among the learners and to instil a

spirit in them to feel interest in the study of Comparative Literature.

Goal: To build up a strong sense of morality and social responsibility through teaching English

Literature, thus to make his students devoted to the process of nation-building.

In fine Prof. Dr. A.C.Biswas asserts the role of his wife Mrs. Paramita Panja(Biswas) and little daughter Anushka Biswas behind his such an active and creative professional life.
