About Dr. M. Ayyamperumal
Myself Dr. M. Ayyamperumal, I did M.Sc.(Ag.) Agricultural Entomology (2015)
from Annamalai University. I pursued doctoral degree, work on “DIVERSITY AND HOST
PARASITOID ASSOCIATION OF ENCYRTID (HYMENOPTERA: CHALCIDOIDEA)
PARASITOIDS” in January 2020, Currently working as Technical Officer (Entomology) in
Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu in charge of bio
control lab (Entomology), and producing predators and parasitoids like, Trichogramma
pretiosum, T. japonicum, T. chilonis, Chrysoperla zastrowi, Rhynocoris marginatus and
Sycanus collaris. So for I described 12 new species of parasitoids from different families like
Aphelinidae, Eucharitidae, Encyrtidae and Mymarommatidae, viz., Umairiya
chidambaramensis Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, Psilocharis heratyi
Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, Mymaromma heptafuniculatus Manickavasagam &
Ayyamperumal, Mymaromma manipurense Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal,
Mymaromma longipterus Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, Mymaromma shivajiense
Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, Eugahania viraktamathi Manickavasagam &
Ayyamperumal, Eugahania chetnae Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, Trechnites
assamensis Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, and Trechnites keralensis Manickavasagam
& Ayyamperumal and Trechnites montanus Manickavasagam & Ayyamperumal, described
and one species Caenohomalopoda shikokuensis and one genus Zozoros Noyes and Hayat
first time reported from India. And also eight new mealybug hosts of parasitoids were
reported so far. Recipient of Vallalar Endowment Award 2014 for securing maximum marks
during M.Sc. (Ag.); Recipient of Young Scientist Award, 2019 from Dr. B.Vasantharaj David
Research foundation for Significant contribution in Parasitic Hymenoptera Taxonomy.
Published 14 research papers in reputed journals. Attended two International and five
national conferences so far.
