About Sandip Pal
I, Mr. Sandip Pal is greatly honoured by receiving the Research Excellence Award 2020. I am a dedicated research scholar in the department of membrane science and separation technology division (MSST), at CSIR-Central salt and marine chemical research institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar, Gujarat, 364002. I am from a village known as Dantan, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. I have completed my B.Sc. in Chemistry from Vidyasagar University, Medinipur, West Bengal in the year of 2014. Then also I have completed my M.Sc. in Chemistry from Vidyasagar University, Medinipur, West Bengal in the year of 2016. During my M.Sc. I have got the ‘merit cum means’ scholarship (West Bengal govt. sponsored). During my M.Sc. I got the opportunity to join Dr. Abhijit Bandyopadhyay’s group in the department of polymer science and technology for 2 months at Calcutta University. Then I have joined at CSIR-CSMCRI in the year of 2016 as a Research Scholar. The research area spans diverse fields, including material science, chemistry, polymeric materials, composite materials. As a part of my PhD research program where I have mostly worked on the preparation of ion exchange membrane with good electrochemical and physicochemical properties for various electro-membrane process applications by simple solution casting method and by phase inversion process. I have also prepared highly acid stable membranes for recovering acids from waste acid solution via Diffusion Dialysis (DD). I am also working on the development of Ion exchange membranes for energy storage applications like fuel cell application and vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) application. I have published several research articles in the reputed International journals. I have participated several national and international conferences, workshops, symposiums and seminars.
