About Dr. Prabjeet Singh
Dr. Prabjeet Singh did his B.F.Sc(Bachelor of Fisheries Science) from G.B.Pant
University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttrakhand with an Overall
Grade Point average of 8.103/10. Dr.Singh acquired his Master of Fisheries Science
from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir
with an Overall Grade Point average of 8.5/10. He completed his Doctorate from
G.B.Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttrakhand with an
Overall Grade Point average of 8.34/10. Dr Singh was a recipient of Fellowship
(JRF&SRF) from University Grants Commission (UGC), New-Delhi to pursue Ph.D.
He was awarded fellowship by Thailand Government and worked under the
supervision of world renowned food technologist Prof. Soottawat Benjakul at Prince
of Songkla University, Thailand . Dr Singh is working as an Assistant Professor from
last six years. He has guided two Postgraduate and one Doctorate student as a major
guide and has been on the advisory committee of three postgraduate students. Dr.
Prabjeet has handled one research project as Principal Investigator and two as Co-
Principal Investigator. Dr Singh has published more than 23 research papers and 18
extension articles in Peer Reviewed National and International Journals. Dr Singh
serves as a potential reviewer for various peer reviewed International journals. Dr
Singh has been instrumental in introduction and demonstration of Litopenaeus
vannamei (White leg shrimp) culture in the saline waters of South-West districts of
Punjab enabling farmers to gain high economic returns from zero earning waste lands.
Dr.Prabjeet is actively engaged in UG, PG and Ph.D teaching. He has delivered more
than 50 extension lectures and 11 Radio/Tv talks to the farmers besides organising
two training programmes as course coordinator and four as technical coordinator. He
was awarded Junior Young scientist award by “Society of Biological and Rural
Development” for his contribution to fisheries science. Dr Singh is actively engaged
in research activities focusing on pollution studies of river Sutlej with fish as a
biomarker, stock variability among riverine and farmed fish species, fish population
biology and dynamics and inland saline aquaculture.
