About Maneesh Kumar
I am a young researcher and currently working as a senior research fellow in the department of electrical engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) in the field of power systems and renewable and sustainable energy which is the future of world’s energy needs such as Solar, Wind and Biomass energy. I have recently completed my Ph.D. work. I also worked in the area of optimization and the small scale power grids at the distribution side, also known as microgrids. These small scale grids are capable of supplying electricity to the areas which are at a remote location since it utilizes the locally available energy sources. Therefore, these are very useful for the rural areas where the connectivity to a large scale power network is not available. I worked on many optimization tools such as Genetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Algorithms, and their hybrid versions. This work has been published to many conferences and peer-reviewed international Journals.
I also worked in the area of electricity transmission expansion planning for future network expansions with the electrical load increments. Pertaining to this work, I also have published many research papers in IEEE International conferences as well as peer-reviewed journals.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Data collection and analysis, Research methodology, Optimization methods, Energy audit, Technical and financial vetting of an electrical project, I worked on the research software such as MATLAB, Pspice, Power World Simulator, Quick-field, and RTDS, etc. and Microsoft applications such as complete MS office.
Publications:
I have published more than 20 research papers in the field of power engineering, which includes more than six papers in IEEE International conferences as well as in IEEE and IET Journals with high impact factors.
Achievements:
• Advance Certification in Power Distribution management by the ministry of power govt. of India and IGNOU New Delhi.
• Published more than 20 research papers
• Research experience of more than 5 years.
• I got an appreciation letter from the Director (Technical) of Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC), Dehradun, for the excellent work during summer training during my undergraduate.
