About Dr. George T Haokip

I do not wish to write about myself of my quality to convince someone like I do well and be qualifying for award. Yet, I wish to mention truthfully some of my experiences and activities as a teacher. Teaching and having connected with learners has shape my life and determine the degree of my enjoyment in life. To be honest, I am positive, prepare, care students, active, clear and fair and active in my duty fulfilling my set goals and the good name of my profession which is noble. I most dislike polluting the sanctity of my profession.
1. The skills needed for effective teaching involve more than just expertise in an academic field. In this regard, I could successfully interact with learners and help them understand a new way oflooking at the world. Although there are many different ways to teach effectively, I used advance preparation for teaching any class. I set clear and fair expectations with certain amount of a positive attitude. I can see my student enjoying my class and responded in reciprocation. Every day I showed enthusiasm and commitment. Every time I give them a reason to remember my class.
2. In Manipur tension is high among different communities. This is very much challenging as
students are from different ethnic background. I personally meet each student every weekend to encourage them of the value of education and how education and harmony strengthen individual confidence, power and success in life. Every year, I organised departmental feast for students which I used as a platform to being together students even outside the classroom for practical discussion on various challenging issues, mainly focusing on the role of students as future pillars and how they can make India a great country.
3. Large numbers of students belongs to poor families. Students in many cases have a hard time getting study materials. I humbly donated money from my salary and orders book base on the need of student and provide them. I have done this for four consecutive years in a row now. This humble work I called it ‘Students Book Fund’. I found this very helpful in improving student learning progress.
4. Technology has become one of the mechanisms to progress the student. Academic leaning levels too are held by this technology based devices- helping teacher’s educated learners not only in the class room but also outside of the class room. I trained myself to become a technology savvy and achieved it very soon. The result for this are that I used both traditional teaching methods as well as technology based teaching which the two are important.
5. Teaching is a continuous process. It is more than class room relations. I created Google Classroom, Zooms and others devices whereby I can still continue imparting education to the learner. I found myself most at happy at class room and when interacting with learners.
6. Institutional syllabus is specific to certain issues that are sometime strictly concentrating extensive on topic and issues which students find it not only boring but also that education involve more than this. To meet these requirements, I have practically taken students for education tour in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Also I talked to parents and report their children’s progress and those that parent must take good understanding. This also helps a lot. To sum up teaching is not a mere job for remuneration but it is a social and religious responsibility.
Many challenges are out there for teachers, and teacher’s relationship with students, and teacher responsibility to the growth of society and their practical duty to help the society though various means. These challenges collectively make teaching profession a noble one. The fulfillment of this highly challenging moral responsibility lies in taking up the responsibility with commitment, sheer devotion with utmost care and love which I struggle hard to achieved it so far. People by nature would die one day, but the remains of good work and fulfillment of duty in the best would remained for a long times; when it help the society for such good deed and action taken during life time. For all these I worship my profession as teachers. The failure of my students is my failure. This sprit encourages me and therefore the journey continued. Jai Hind!
