About Susmita Das
I am currently on the verge of defending my Ph.D. degree in Botany as DST-INSPIRE Fellow (SRF), Govt. of India, with emphasis on Plant Physiology and Biochemistry under the guidance of Prof. Asok Kumar Biswas (retd.) at Department of Botany, University of Calcutta, India. My main research area is the comparative study of silicon and selenium on the basis of their ameliorative effects to combat arsenic induced toxicity in growth and metabolisms in rice. Previously, I completed the Master of Botany (Specialized in advanced plant physiology and biochemistry and plant molecular biology) securing the 1 st rank in 2013 form West Bengal State University, India. I received Inspire Fellowship award in 2015 for securing top rank in M.Sc. I had also obtained the Bachelor of Botany (Hons.) degree in 2011 from East Calcutta Girls’ College, Kolkata, under the West Bengal State University, India. During my research tenure, I have received the Young Scientist Award of Indian Society for Plant Physiology (ISPP, New Delhi, India) in 2020 and the Nasi-Swarna Jayanti Puraskar in 2019 in the field of Biological Sciences from National Academy of Sciences (NASI, India). I am an active member of American Society of Plant Biologists, Botanical Society of Bengal, Indian Science Congress Association and Indian Society for Plant Physiology.
