About Dr. Hemen Kumar Kalita

I also take this opportunity to congratulate the other awardees in the same and other categories as well”. Hemen Kalita is currently working as an Assistant professor in the Department of Physics, Gauhati University, India. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He received his M. Sc. in Physics with a specialization in Condensed Matter Physics and Electronics from the Department of Physics, Gauhati University. He has qualified the prestigious National Eligibility Test (NET) Exam with All India Rank-50. He is the group leader of the NAMONICS research group at Gauhati University. His current research interest includes graphene-based derivatives and 2-D materials, transport and sensing properties of graphene-based devices and sensors such as FETs, TFTs, humidity sensors, soil moisture sensors, and gas/VOC sensors, etc. water purification properties of surface tailored graphene-based adsorbents/membranes, photodetectors, energy-based applications. He has published 13 international journals, 6 patents, 11 conference papers, and 2 book chapters till date. He got research projects from funding agencies such as DST-SERB, UGC-BSR, ASTEC. He got the Early career research (ECRA) Award by DST-SERB, Govt. of India in 2018. He’s one of the research work on low-cost soil moisture sensor was highlighted by Hindustan Times in 2019. He has been awarded the ‘Young Scientis/Innovator Award’ 2020 in the Assam State Awards for Scientific Excellence -2020 given by Science & Technology Department, Govt. of Assam.
