About Sipra Sagarika

Dr. Sipra Sagaraika is an M.Phil /Ph.D from Center for Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, and New Delhi. She is serving as Assistant Prof.in Sociology since last 3 years in Department of Social Science, Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, and Odisha. She has earlier served as a regular faculty at Department of Sociology, Panjab University, and Chandigarh as well. She has extensively published in different reputed journals and EDT. Books of National and International standards. She is active in presentation of varied research interests in different seminars and conferences across globe. She has several international visits to her credit in different capacities to Canada, Europe and many other parts of the world. Her strength areas are Sociology of culture, Social Anthrpology, Sociology of minority and Sociology of Globalization. She is an active member to Indian Sociological Society, Indian Anthropological Society, International Sociological Association and International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Recently she was a visiting faculty to Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIMI), to train management students in ‘Culture and Society in Contemporary India’. She is a dedicated teacher and friendly mentor, who strive for all round development of students in the department. She is active in all extra-curricular activities (NSS, Redcross, and NCC etc) and motivates students for both academic and cultural excellences. She is about to get sanction of ICSSR project in a very interesting topic of Odissi dance, Globalization and Mass media. She is herself a recipient of All India Theater Excellence Award for the category of Odissi Dance. Her association to any institution will be definitely a matter of pride and asset. She has been extensively working for the cause of poor, underprivileged and disable sections of the society. She is a certified social worker and exceptionally stands for the cause of minorities rights.
