About Dr. Suresh Kumar Mojjada

Dr. Mojjada currently working as an Assistant Chief Technical Officer, Mariculture Division at the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India. He does R&D in mariculture and allied sciences since 2007. For the first time in India Dr.Mojjada, has developed a novel sea cage design and stable mooring technology suitable to Indian Seas as a part of his Ph.D research. He is presently working on developing sustainable next-generation mariculture technologies and protocols. IMTA,
developing GIS-based models for identifying potential mariculture sites, development of Machine Learning models for mariculture site detection, Integration and adaption of Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Deep learning in to mariculture , Marine Spatial Planning (MSP-Mariculture) and mariculture policy planning along the Indian Coast are his research focus.
Dr. Mojjada, has completed his master’s degree in Coastal Aquaculture and Marine
Biotechnology form Andhra University, Andhrapradesh in 2006. Subsequent to his professional experience in a multinational aqua firm, worked as Senior Research Fellow at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, under Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India funded project on Design, and development of open sea cage R&D demonstration farms for marine finfish and Shellfish production for Indian Seas. Awarded with doctoral degree in Bioscience from the Mangalore University, Karnataka for his remarkable doctoral research on the technological and biological innovations in open sea cage farming. The research thesis by Dr.Mojjada is a novel and pioneering attempt to introduce marine fish farming in open seas of Indian subcontinent which was a maiden attempt. He was granted with a patent on indigenous sea cage farming system for intensive marine fish production and breeding in Open Sea. Apart from the granted Indian patent, he has a design patent and 3 process/method patents (Indian & International) filed. He has also served in Editorial Committee/Board as a membe (Editorial Assistance) in an esteemed peer-reviewed ICAR journal- Indian Journal of Fisherie which being SCI/ Thomson Reuters indexed.
Published 28 papers in peer-reviewed SCI indexed journals of international repute, 2 books and 2 International Magazine stories/ articles. He has also authored a book on Cage Aquaculture in India. He was received with “Technology-Innovation award” for his intervention in Lobster sea cage farming and Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) in an International conference on Recent Advances in Aquaculture (RAA-2016) National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) and UGC, New Delhi conducted at Andhra University, Visakhapatnam during 16-17, December 2016 and a Best research paper award (oral presentation) for Applications of Remote sensing and GIS in selection of suitable marine aquaculture sites along Gujarat coast in an International symposium of the Societal Applications in Fisheries and Aquaculture using Remote Sensing Imagery (SAFARI-2) at the ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute during 15-17, January, 2018. He was invited by several Universities, R&D organizations, State, Central administrative bodies and corporate firms for expert lectures on mariculture. He was also a visiting faculty for prestigious management institute Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (URICM), Gandhinagar which is under Institution of National Council for Co-operative Training, New Delhi, GoI.
