About Pallerla Srikanth

Mr.Pallerla Srikanth is currently pursuing his Ph.D in Psychiatric Social Work, in the field of Wellbeing for the caregivers of person with spinal cord injury at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. He has completed M. Phil in Psychiatric Social Work from the same Institute where he studied Quality of Life, Risk Perception and Reproductive Decision Making Factors among Women with Epilepsy. After graduating B-pharmacy, he has joined in Master of social work from Osmania University. He has cleared
GATE, PGCET, and UGC NET-JRF later on. He has worked for ICMR Project for six months in the Filarisis project as a Co-ordinator. He is a lifetime Member of Indian Society of Professional Social Work (Registration No.1198).
He has two years of experience in the field of Psychiatric Social Work in different settings related to mental health like psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, family therapy, child and adolescent psychiatry etc. His interest is on clinical social work research and practice specializing in a Neuro Rehabilitation setting, especially with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) patients and their caregivers to provide psycho-social interventions.
He has published articles related to the significance of psychosocial interventions,
employability for persons with mental illness, impact of day care centers in dementia care, the mental health status of caregivers, clinical profile and impact of lockdown among spinal cord injury patients, reproductive decision making factors, quality of life among women with epilepsy.
He has participated in many national and international conferences and workshops related to the field of mental health, neurosciences, also made so many posters, oral, and platform presentations. He has received the best presentation award at World congress on Women-2020 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He is a Co-investigator for the Project entitled “Development of directory of Professional Social Workers practicing in Health settings in South India” and also one of the author for the information booklet on Spinal cord injury.
His contributions as volunteered for COVID-19 telephonic Psycho-social counseling during the COVID-19 pandemic, resource person for many workshops, orientation program coordinator for the PG MSW students at NIMHANS, and also volunteered for UNV_India.
