With formidable roots in the domain of media and entertainment, Mr. Ameya Bal is astory teller first and a professor next. He currently serves as an Assistant professor andcoordinator of mass media studies at K.J. Somaiya College of Art and Commerce. HereMr. Bal loves to try his hands at introducing students and himself to ever evolving trendsof both media and technology. Nurtured by 5 years of industry experience and 10 yearsof teaching, he likes training students from a perspective of an industry professionalwhile giving them the train wheels of a professor to depend upon.His fascination of expressing self has evolved with him, the first shoot form the seedhowever, has its place in the early graduation years of Ameya. Poetry and Music hasalways kept him engaged, at times professionally other times out of the sheerwillingness of expression. This explains how a 21 year-oldAmeya had managed to putthe foot in the door of All India Radio and give a platform to his voice. His associationwith this Indian public radio broadcast service still continues after 11 years now, fromthe time he worked for them. The two additions now are ZEE Marathi and DDSahayadri, the television channels where you would find him either reciting a poetry,writing script or doing his thing over harmonium. The pursuit of honing his skills further took him to the classroom, precisely to undertakepost graduation in literature and Journalism from university of Mumbai. Keen to sharehis insights, Mr. Bal ceased a few opportunities to publish research papers. His paperstried bringing out some the scenario and the challenges that mediums like radio will facein the age of internet. With an urge to broaden his sphere of work and to give back fromthe space of a professor, Ameya has lately ventured into publishing books for massmedia. He has published five text books for Mass Media.A good teacher is one who always seek to learn! Ameya being in teaching profession,has not stopped updating his skill sets. The COVID 19 lockdown period wheneverything is stand still, Ameya constructively used this period by doing online certificatecourses. By completing four online certificate courses on E – learning, Social MediaMarky and Psychology; he has widen his area of specialization.This stint of his has enabled Mr. Bal to acutely compile the domain knowledge whilekeeping the birds eye view on the conveying the key concepts in lucid terms. Like hisbooks, Mr. Bal's bond with the classrooms and seekers therein is indeed going to beeternal now.
