About Aswin Shankharan

Aswin Shankharan is a fresh graduate and 2020 pass-out from Vellore Institute of Technology in Production & Industrial Engineering.
He is always fascinated by the way Technology and Management align together in making industrial products and processes better. His major interest is towards optimization of various industrial process for enhancing production processes by applying new technologies that comes under Industry 4.0 like IOT, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.
Being fascinated by the way organizations work, he took up various internships and worked on different projects aligning management and technology that caters to the current market trends. Also, he has been certified with “Lean Six Sigma Green Belt” from KPMG.
He has worked under Prof. Sameer Mathur of IIM Lucknow, for a winter internship in Marketing management where he worked on building a marketing plan for an android app in a play store. To explore his flay for management, he did a global internship with TakenMind Un-SDG in Data Analytics and Finance. He did his summer internship with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Boiler Auxiliaries plant, Ranipet. During this period, he worked on Optimization of Production and
Manufacturing of boiler fans.
He along with his friends who had the same interest in Supply Chain Management took a project on Reduction in the Amplification of Order quantities in a Supply Chain which was basically to reduce the Bullwhip effect in various markets as elasticity of demand is different for different markets developed a Lean Prototype which can cater to any market where the data is analysed to conclude a better solution with least amplification in the order quantities with proper prediction of changing demands and timelines. This research project titled “Review of Amplification of Order Quantities- Bullwhip Effect is Published as a journal article in “Test Engineering and Management Journal April edition, IASET”. Following that, the same team worked on the capstone engineering project titled “Evaluation and Analysis of Supplier Performance in a Heavy Industry’s Supply Chain using Multi-Criteria Decision-making Approach and Comparing with Machine Learning Results”. This Project was done by collaborating with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited- Trichy unit, where we obtained data about 20 vendors and evaluated them using 20 Sub-Criteria’s by combination of two pairs of MCDM techniques (1. (Fuzzy-AHP & VIKOR) 2. (TOPSIS & DEMATEL) and also, we obtained the same results using Machine Learning algorithms, we compared these results and were among the very few who had applied Machine Learning
algorithms using python(in Random Forest algorithm and Decision Tree) along with MCDM techniques in evaluating the best supplier. This project is published in a Scopus indexed journal IJARET, as “Ranking of Supplier Performance using Machine Learning algorithm of Random Forest”, May 2020 edition.
Now he is set to go for his Masters in International Business in one of the renowned
universities in UK. Meanwhile, he is also working with Amazon India in Self-Service
Performance Advertising. Apart from being an Engineer, He is an Author who has written two books which won various awards to him like “100 Inspiring Author of India 2018”, “Best Debut Indian Author 2018”, “Author of the year 2019” and “Best Fiction book 2019”. He is an active participant of everything that happens around him in the society, his aim is to be a part of the society and be a changemaker by being the change himself.
