About Dr. P.Mahalakshmi

Dr.P.Mahalakshmi, I am working as a Assistant Professor in the department of Plant
Pathology at Institute of Agriculture, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for past three years. I am handling the courses viz., Principles of Plant Pathology, Crop diseases and their Management, CAG A22.Commercial production of spawn and mushroom (0+2) and Commercial production of biocontrol agents offered to Diploma in Agriculture.
I was granted Msc.(Agri) and Ph.D., in Plant Pathology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural
University, Coimbatore. I have authorised three books, 7 book chapters, 11 Research articles in reputed journals. I am a life member of some reputed national journals and agricultural societies.
I have participated and presented the papers in several national and international conferences. I was specialized in biological control of plant diseases, was actively engaged in All India coordinated Research projects and actively involved in teaching to students pursuing various
courses of Plant Pathology. I was Resource person in various training viz., ATMA –SSEPERS training, Tribal sub plan, AICRP on sesame, Jabalpur , directorate of development of Cashew and cocoa, Cochin
and Seminar on cultivation technology in jack and delivered a special lectures on various topics.
I have participated and member of various organizing committee in various students
seminar, symposium, sports/cultural programmes, exhibitions, University organized functions viz., Regional Research Extension and Advisory Committee, Training under NMOOP “ Advanced production and protection technologies for high profit in groundnut cultivation,
Flower show, Crop Scientist Meet, Prime Minister FasalBima Yojana Programme, Scientific Advisory committee Meet, AICRP on Cashew Annual group meeting, Personality development workshop, College day, Sports meet and Hostel day were conducted at Colleges and Research
Stations .
In addition to the academic activities, involving in the additional responsibilities viz.,
farm management, Deputy warden, Ward councellor for the students, Plant Pathology Lab In-
charge, Mushroom production mass production of Biocontrol agents.
I have established the Plant pathology laboratory laboratory was established with a cost of
Rs. 25,62,000 by utilizing the FMC fund for conducting practical classes and experiential learning of students. The laboratory is equipped with Diagnostic laboratory microscope,
weighing digital balance, 100 Student compound microscope, Hot Air oven, Laminar Air flow chamber, Bench top Centrifuge, Autoclave and fitted LCD projector with screen with capacity of 85 students occupying for taking practical classes. One Biocontrol unit equipped with laminar
air flow chamber, autoclave(12"diax12"depth), digital weighing balance (accuracy 1gto10kg)(600 x 600 x 600 mm), Fermentors, Talc mixer (Spiral Kneeder) and band sealing machine were purchased @ Rs. 8,45,000/- under FMC fund -2017 -18.
