About Seemesh Bhaskar
Sri Seemesh Bhaskar is currently DST-Inspire Senior Research Fellow at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL). He obtained B. Sc and M. Sc (Honours) from SSSIHL in 2016 and 2018 respectively. During his under graduation he was selected for the most prestigious ‘Sri Sathya Sai All-Rounder Gold Medal’, for excellence and meritorious performance in a variety of extra-curricular and integral activities including academics, sports, music, dramatics, public speaking and leadership. During his tenure he has contributed for the development of ‘Dietetics’
self-reliance department and was an active coordinator of sports and cultural events at the institute.
While he served as the Campus Vise Captain at Brindavan campus, he secured Gold Medal (first rank) in Master of Science in Chemistry in Prashanthi Nilayam Campus during post-graduation. Hailing from ‘Bellipaddy Nilaya’, a remote village in Kavu, Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, Sri Seemesh is a passionate learner of science since childhood. He wows his success in education to love and support from his mother Mrs. Saraswathi B. Rai. He completed his schooling at Sri Sathya Sai
Loka Seva Vidhya Kendra and Pre-University College, Alike, with top 1 percent ranking to be eligible for DST-Inspire Scholarship. He is recognized among his peers for team work, trumpet tunes, talent in volleyball, football, drawing and painting, and good inter-personal skills as they comprise his primary hobbies. Fueled by his passion for understanding science, Sri Seemesh has successfully completed Internships as part of Department of Science and Technology (DST) Inspire Scholarship program with publications to his credit. By and large, under supervision of Dr. Ramanathan (INYAS Fellow, SASTRA University), Dr. Sai Siva Gorthi (Optics and Microfluidics
Instrumentation [OMI] Lab, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore), Dr. C Subramanium (Nanostructured Materials group, IIT-Bombay), topics that were learnt include Raman spectroscopy, Multimetallic Nanocluster-synthesis and Opto- and microfluidics. For achieving publication within first year of his research tenure, Sri Seemesh was upgraded to SRF with assessment committee held at the behest of Prof. V. Chandrasekhar, FNA, FTWAS, Centre Director, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Hyderabad.
To his credit, he got opportunity to work under Dr. Sai Sathish Ramamurthy (DBT-
Ramalingaswami Fellow), at Professor’s esteemed and specialized Surface plasmon-based Translational and Advanced Research (STAR) Laboratory, Central Research Instruments Facility (CRIF), Department of Chemistry, SSSIHL (https://www.starlab-sssihl.com/). Sri Seemesh’s field of research expertise include nanoscience, photonic crystals, metamaterials, plasmonics and sensors. He is currently working on engineering multifunctional soret nano-architectures for multidisciplinary applications. Some of his recent publications include: DOI:
