About Dr. Nazia Tarannum

I have received my B.Sc and M.Sc degree from Lucknow University. I received my
PhD from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India on the topic ‘Synthesis,
characterization and analytical applications of certain polysulfobetaines and
polycarbobetaines’. I have worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Banaras Hindu
University and CSIR Research Associate in IIT Bombay. I am currently working as
an Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Chaudhary Charan Singh
University, Meerut, India. My research interests include polyelectrolytes, hydrogels
and organogels, molecular imprinting (MIP), chemiresistors and MIP sensors. I have
experience in designing the novel polymeric formats for crafting molecular
recognition elements to device sensors for biomolecules/drugs using molecular
imprinting technology. I have developed novel functionalized polymeric frameworks
to be incorporated in Analytical technology as sensors for detection of small target
molecules. I have published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed reputed
international and national journals, two books and eleven book chapters as well. I
have been recipient of several fellowships from UGC, CSIR and INSA. I have
received VIFA Young Faculty Award 2016 (Category: Chemistry-Synthesis of
Organic Polymers). I have been nominated as Young Scientist by Department of
Science and Technology in 2016 to draft and plan the science and technology
enterprise for India in BRICS-STEP 2016 (Brazil Russia, India, China, South Africa-
Science and Technology Enterprise). I have four research projects from several
funding agencies like UGC, Indo-Russian project (DST-RFBR), Indo –UK project
and DHR project. I am very active in research and academics and contributing new
technologies to the society with my little effort of industry collaborated projects as
well.
