About Dr. Pratima Singh
Dr. Pratima Singh obtained postgraduate degrees in Zoology and English from the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj (CSJM) University, Kanpur in the year 2002 and 2004, respectively. Later, the CSJM University awarded her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Zoology for her thesis on “Comparative Studies of Thyroid, Gonads and Caudal Neurosecretory System of Wallagoattu and Claris batrachus (Linn.) in Different Seasons” in the year 2015. She has more than seven years of research experience in the field of fish taxonomy, ecology, biology, histology.
She is well acquainted with the survey methodology of fish fauna and conducted many survey tours to remote areas. So far, she has published more than nine research papers in reputed journals, including three articles in SCI journals. Dr. Singh has discovered and described six species of fishes as new to science from India. They are Glyptothorax gopii, Physoschistura ranikhetensis, Aboricthys iphipaniensis, Glyptothorax kailashi, Glyptothorax distichus, and Glyptothorax giudikyensis. She is a life member of the Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata.
