Suresh D. Mane did his early schooling from Kendriya Vidayalays in Kolkata, Punjab and then in Madhya Pradesh as his dad was serving Indian Air force. Prof Suresh D. Mane Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Karnataka University in 1990 and joined Indian Railways.

He Completed M.Tech in Energy Systems Engg from BVB College of Engineering Hubli in Karnataka and secured third rank to the university. He pursued Research work in Railway workshops and successfully defended his thesis from UBDT college of engineering Davangere under Kuvempu University.

He has a Total of 24 years experience 20 years with Railways and 5 years in academics. He has extensively traveled the nation and has visited numerous Railway establishments in all parts of the country like Diesel Loco Unit, Varanasi in UP, Workshops in West Bengal, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu etc

As an officer he has successfully managed maintenance of 145 diesel locomotives at Diesel Loco Shed K.R. Puram, Bangalore for two years as incharge Mechanical maintenance. After taking VRS from Railways he joined Shaikh College of Engineering Belagavi to venture into academics. He served Shaikh College for 3 years as Professor in department of Mechanical Engineering before joining GSIT, Karwar as Principal. Briefly served as Professor at Hirasugar Institute of Technology, Nidasoshi in Belagavi District of Karnataka.

Results of the institution improved considerably and the Ecosystem itself is student friendly, reduction in faculty attrition rates.

Ø  Established final year laboratories. Reorganized the departments and class rooms

Ø  Improved the results by 50% due to implementation of new and innovative measures in teaching learning process

Ø  Applied for three sponsorship projects to VGST, Govt. of Karnataka

Ø  Successfully conducted Governing Council meeting,  three semester VTU Lab examinations and theory examinations as Principal GSIT Karwar since 1 Oct 2015

Ø  Faculty recruitment, guest faculties to handle subjects of final year and arranged for more than 11 faculty recruitments in four departments at GSIT Karwar

Ø  Successfully applied for SERB, DST sponsorship for National Conference at GSIT Karwar NCACME 2017 being conducted on 10 & 11 Feb, 2017.

Ø  Presented papers in 10 International & 7 National Conferences at IIT-Bombay Twice, IISc- Bangalore Twice, IGIDR- Mumbai, NIT- Surat, BESU (IIEST)- Howrah, UBDT Co E, Davangere, RVCE –Blore

Ø  Conducted FDP on “Engineering Pedagogy & Engineering Research” on 6 Feb 2016.
