Prof. Prashanta Kumar Patra obtained B.Tech.  degree in Electronics with 1^st class Distinction from SardarVallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology, Surat (NIT, Surat) in 1986 and M.Tech. in Computer Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur in 1993. He obtained Ph.D. in Computer Science from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 2003. He served as Lecturer from 1988 to 1996 at University College of Engineering, Burla (VSSUT, Burla) and as Reader in College of Engineering & Technology, (CET) Bhubaneswar in Computer Science Department from 1996 to 2007. In March, 2007 he joined as Professor in Computer Science in CET, Bhubaneswar and headed CSE, IT and MCA department. Prior to joining as Regular Principal on 15^th February, 2015he was Professor & Head in CSE department. He has published more than 110 research papers in International / National Journals and Conferences. Some of the publications are in IEEE transaction on Neural Network, Elsevier transaction on Applied Soft Computing, Solar energy, etc. including 04 Book chapters in Springer link, etc. He has authored a book on Mobile Computing published by Scitech publisher and also a recipient of J. C. Bose Memorial Award 1996  by the Council of the  Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi, India, Best Teacher Award by Green Odisha Forum, Bhubaneswar on 15.09.2013, Sandeep Mohapatra Memorial Award by Institution of Engineers (I) Odisha State Centre on 10.02.2013,Govind Gupta memorial running shield on 15.09.2015 for outstanding contribution in the field of R&D activity by Institution of Engineers (I) Odisha State Centre, Best Teacher Award by Green Odisha Forum, Bhubaneswar on 15.09.2013. Seven number of students have been awarded Ph.D. degree in Computer Science under his direct supervision. He has been a reviewer of IEEE transaction and Elsevier Journals including many International conferences. 

For the first time in CET history i.e. after 35 years, CET is awarded with NAAC ‘A’ grade accreditation for a period of 05 years from 23^rd January, 2017 and NBA accreditation to 04 Nos. of UG Engineering departments with effect from 1^st July, 2016 for a period of 03 years. The accreditation team is visiting in March 1^st week of 2017 for NBA accreditation of another 05 UG departments.The College has received 06 different awards in quality excellence and leadership from ABP News, DNA & Star Group, Vijayavani, Indo Global Chamber of Commerce, Praxis Media, World’s most trusted brand under his Principalship.
