About Deepika Bhandari
Dr. Deepika Bhandari is a reputed Academician, Researcher, Philanthropist and has done some of the pioneering work in the field of Forensic Science Education in India. Dr. Bhandari attained her Masters and Doctorate in Forensic Science from Punjabi
University, Patiala. During her doctoral research, Dr. Bhandari undertook a pioneering
study in the field of Environmental Forensics and Occupational Toxicology in the
industrial belt of Himachal Pradesh. During the 2010 Commonwealth Games at New
Delhi, Dr. Bhandari worked for the Doping Control Unit of World Anti-Doping Agency
(ADAMS). The contributions of Dr. Bhandari in the field of academics as numerous; Dr. Bhandari nurtured young talent in the field of Forensic Science in the capacity of
Assistant Professor at the Institute of Forensic Science, University of Mumbai, where she later also Headed the Department of Law and Department of Forensic Science. Dr. Bhandari was the Content Writer and Speaker for a Project of “ePGPathshala” by
University Grants Commission (UGC) under National Mission of Education through
ICT (NMEICT), MHRD, Government of India for the subject of Forensic Science. Dr.
Bhandari was again the Content Writer and Speaker under National Mission of
Education through ICT (NMEICT), MHRD, Government of India Phase–II of Forensic
Science and Criminology for UG Program by CEC, Educational Multimedia
Research Centre. Dr. Bhandari is also the subject expert for selection in granting the JN Tata Endowment Scholarships for Higher Studies Overseas. Dr. Bhandari also
participated in the prestigious “The Teachers Training Program (UTTP)” at Carleton
University, Ottawa, Canada in the year 2017. Dr. Bhandari has worked as Convener
for various committees like Examination, Admission, Vigilance, Anti-Ragging, Syllabus
drafting, etc. for University of Mumbai. Further, Dr. Bhandari was also the Chairperson, Paper setter and Moderator for B.Sc. and M.Sc. examinations of University of Mumbai, Mumbai. Dr. Bhandari carried out and supervised some of the leading research in the field of Forensic Science and has published papers across the various disciplines of Forensic Science in Journals of international repute. Her work on Forensics has been presented at various conferences and symposia across the globe and has won her several awards. Dr. Bhandari worked on some novel concepts in the field of Forensic Science like “Application of Mathematics in Forensic Science”, “Forensic Journalism” etc. In addition to the academics and research Dr. Bhandari also worked for Quality Assurance and is empanelled as Assessor by Quality Council of India for Sports Authority of India Centers in India. Not limiting her Forensic skills to academics, Dr. Bhandari Joined Directorate of Forensics Services, Himachal Pradesh as Assistant Director and looking after Chemical Analysis in Crime cases. Dr. Bhandari is also working on penning down some very interesting crime cases that changed the course of forensics in India.
