About Abdul Burhan Khan

I would be glad to tell about myself, I’m a research enthusiast, working in the field of Protein Conformation and Enzymology at Department of Bioscience, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Since past 4 years, I have been working as a full-time Ph.D. researcher dedicating towards the understanding of structure and functional aspect of protein conformational studies. My work aims to find the novel plasma interacting partners of Protein Disulfide Isomerase (an oxidoreductase enzyme) in coagulation (a normal clotting condition) and thrombosis (a diseased condition). As we know, protein-protein interactions (PPI) handle a wide range of biological processes and is becoming one of the major objectives of system biology. The finding of critical interface residues in interacting protein-protein partners will elucidate the importance of these residues in interaction of protein with each other, further, any mutation in the residues involve in the interacting proteins will lead to the change in the binding affinity and thus lead to the abnormalities in bonding pattern which ultimately result in to disease conditions that’s our prime focus. In order to achieve my findings,I get experienced in various molecular biology and bioinformatic techniques such as chromatography, immunoblotting, electrophoresis, molecular docking, circular dichroism, molecular dynamic simulation etc. Before encountered with Ph.D., I had also worked as a senior research fellow in Department of Biotechnology, Government of India sponsored project where I had designing the outline of “Earthworm of India” website along with the research responsibilities. In near future, I would love to work on the translational based research by carrying my research area for the betterment of humankind.
