About Achinta Sannigrahi
Mr. Achinta Sannigrahi received his M.Sc degree from IIT Guwahati in the year 2014. After qualifying the National Eligibility Test in chemical sciences, he started his research career in structural biology and bioinformatics division of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. During his PhD, he tried to solve some important problems regarding protein-membrane interaction phenomenon in different disease systems ranging from infectious diseases like Leishmaniasis, Tuberculosis and neurodegenerative diseases like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and prion diseases. He presented his work regarding leishmaniasis in 63 rd Biophysical society (BPS) annual meeting held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and he was the recipient of the prestigious BPS travel award for sharing his experience and results with eminent biophysicists throughout the world. He was also recipients of ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research, INDIA) travel grant 2019 for attending the conference. He is also recipient of DST-SERB(INDIA) travel grant 2019 and DBT (Department of Biotechnology, India) travel grant,2019. His recent report about the development of a vaccine candidate using protein’s conformational switch strategy gained high appreciation as highlighted in leading newspapers, The Times of India and The Hindu (Scientists help pave the way for vaccine against TB - The Hindu BusinessLine ;A chink in TB’s armour? - The Hindu; Indian scientists find out molecular mechanism behind the dormant Tuberculosis bacteria- Technology News, Firstpost;Kolkata researchers develop molecule for TB vaccine | Kolkata News - Times of India). He has authored 15 publications in distinguished international journals. He is also the recipient of prestigious DST-INSPIRE scholarship (2010-2014).
