Dr.
T. Manigandan, Principal, P.A. College
of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, is a multifaceted and dynamic
personality. He did his Diploma in ECE at Government Polytechnic College,
Coimbatore. He further completed his engineering graduation B.E., in ECE at
Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, M.E., in Control Systems from PSG
College of Technology, Coimbatore and was awarded Ph.D., in Electrical
Engineering (Control Systems) from Anna University, Chennai. He started his career as a service engineer
in a company and then worked at Polytechnic Colleges for about ten years. He
gradually moved towards next positions as Training Faculty at PSG College of
Technology, Coimbatore and he held various positions as Lecturer, Assistant
Professor, Professor and Head at School of Electrical Sciences and then
promoted as the Dean of Electrical Sciences at Kongu Engineering College,
Perundurai.
Being an eminent scholar, he has guided, so
far, 13 scholars towards their doctorate and 5 are currently working towards
their doctoral degree. He has published
72 research articles in International Journals and 3 in National Journals.
Apart from his publications in journals, he has also presented 51 papers in
various International Conferences and 22 papers in National Conferences. He
chaired many sessions at various conferences, seminars and symposiums. He has
also received two patent rights for his novel inventions. He has received a
sumptuous grant of Rs. 52.75 lakhs from DST and Rs. 6.83 lakhs from UGC for his
research proposals. He has been a member of editorial board and review
committee for more than 15 journals. He is also the convenor of Board of
Studies for framing the University Curricula and is a member in Board of
Studies of various Autonomous colleges.
It is important to note
that he has received nine awards for his priceless service. He was bestowed
with ‘ISTE Best Chapter Chairman Award’ among all engineering colleges in Tamil
Nadu and Pondicherry. He received “Vocational Service Award†for his excellence
as Principal from Rotary Club, Pollachi and “IET Premium Award†for his
project. He was conferred with “Gnanaguru Award†by Lions Club and Alagappa
Open University. He received “Best NSS Unit Award†for the Academic year
2014-2015 from Anna University, Chennai and endowed with “Bharat Shiksha Ratan
Award†by Global Society for Health and Educational growth, in New Delhi. His
academic performances at KEC yielded “Best Staff Award and “Best Project Guide
Award†from Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai. He was also the “Best
Out-going Student†(PG-EEE) at PSG
College of Technology, Coimbatore.
