About Dr. Madhulika Sahoo
Dr. Madhulika Sahoo is an Anthropologist by training, currently working as Assistant Professor in the School of Business, Vellore Institute of Technology University, Andhra Pradesh. Where she teach Anthropology, Qualitative Research Method, Anthropology of Technology and Gender studies.
She has over 8 years of experience working with forced migrants in India and the United Kingdom. She has worked with different Government and non-government organizations such as Anthropological Survey of India Government of India, UNICEF, UNDP, independent asylum commission, refugee council in various capacities.
Her work mostly focusses on communities displaced by disasters and development. She holds a MA Anthropology from Sabitribaiphule Pune University, MA in Refugee Studies from the University of East London and PhD from National Institute of Technology Rourkela. Her PhD research was on the reproductive healthcare practices and challenges among the displaced indigenous communities in India. Her research interest includes climate change adaptation, forced migration, ethnography, tribal development, and gender studies. She is also a regional coordinator to the Avoidable Death Network. Working with a team of international experts on disaster and health on unavoidable death due to COVID-19.
Dr. Sahoo has published more than 10 research papers in peer reviewed international and national journals. She has also co-authored a book titled ‘Bishipada Changing Milieu: Biocultural Diversity, Environment and Sustainable Development’ Anthropological Survey of India.
