About Janifer Raj X


Janifer Raj Xavier, Scientist ‘D’ completed her M.Sc. in Agricultural Biotechnology in 2006 at CPMB, TNAU. She served in Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), Leh, Ladakh from 2008-2012. She is working at DFRL, Mysore since 2012. She is involved in developing enzymes for food technology applications and foods for radiation protection. Her significant scientific contributions include: Development of light weight biodegradable cutlery and edible films, development of bacterial cellulose based food products and scale-up of bacterial cellulose and preparation of oligosaccharides from food processing by-products using in-house microbial enzymes for prebiotic applications. For her meritorious work she received awards such as Young Scientist award of Mycological Society of India, 2014 for developing DNA based detection systems for mycotoxins, Defence technology spin-off award 2017 of DRDO for developing edible cutlery and edible films, Technology group award 2017 of DFRL for the best team in developing technologies for defence forces, DRDO-DFRL scientist of the year award 2019 and DRDO International Women’s day Logo designing award, 2015. She has 35 research publications in international and national journals to her credit and has submitted 03 patents.
