About Dr. Mandar Padmakar Baviskar


Active researcher since his undergraduate days, Dr. Mandar Baviskar was awarded ICMR Short term Studentship 2010 for his study on Mental Health of Arts, Science and Commerce students in a rural area. He completed his M.D in Community Medicine from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai in 2016. Winner of Dr. Parimala Subramanium Award for Best Resident in Community Medicine-2016, he has published original research in various National and International Journals. He was also the recipient of Dr. Bhalerao Award for Best research paper in School Health at IAPSM/IPHA joint state Conference, Maharashtra-2016. He is actively involved with medical student movement and was General Secretary of Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) where he campaigned for improvement in their working and living conditions. He has worked in sponsored research projects including evaluation of malnutrition in children, pregnant and lactating women in Khadavli, Thane. He has evaluated Diabetes care among in tribal, rural and urban slum settings and is working towards improvement of integrated care of Non Communicable Diseases in primary care settings. He is has worked as Assistant Professor in Department of Community Medicine at Grant Government Medical College and JJ group of Hospitals, Mumbai where he was actively involved in coordinating community health camps. He is currently the Assistant Professor of Community Medicine in Rural Medical College, of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (DU), Loni where he is actively involved in Medical Education Technology, implementation of Competency Based Medical Curriculum and Innovation council. He is currently perusing certification in Preventive Cardiology and Diabetes Care, and working on Cardio-Diabetes. His is also the coordinator for training of Modern Mid-Level Healthcare Providers or Community Health Officers (CHOs). He is studying the impact of COVID-19 on Health services and service providers especially in rural areas. He is a life member of various professional bodies including Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine and Indian Public Health Association, Academy of Family Physicians of India, Indian Medical Association among others.
