About Dr. C. Ravi Dhas
Dr. C. Ravi Dhas is an Associate Professor and Head in PG and Research Department of Physics, Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He received his Doctorate in Physics from the Alagappa University in the field of thin film technology (2010). He holds 25 years of teaching experience and is an enthusiastic researcher as well. His area of expertise is in the field of Materials science specialized in nanostructured thin film preparation using DC Sputtering, Electron beam evaporation, nebulizer spray pyrolysis, and preparation of metal oxides nano-powders using solgel and co-precipitation method for various applications such as gas sensors, solar cells, electrochromism, photocatalytic dye degradation and water splitting for fuel cells. To his credit, he has 60 international papers in reputed journals with the impact factor ranging from 0.830 to 4.493 achieving 1096 citations and 18 h - index. He has authored two books entitled “Introduction to characterization of thin films and Nanomaterials” and “Research Methodology and Scientific Writing – A Researchers’ Handbook”. He has also contributed a book chapter entitled “Synthesizing Green Photocatalyst using Plant Leaf Extract for Water Pollutant Treatment” in “Green photocatalysts”, Springer Publications. He has completed 2 minor research projects and one major research project funded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India. He has presented several research papers in the National/ International Conferences and is a proud recipient of Best Researcher Award and several Best Paper Presentation Awards. Under his guidance, four research candidates have completed their doctorate degree and five researchers are pursuing their doctorates. He has visited Dubai, Singapore and Australia for presenting papers and USA as invited speaker. He has received financial support from CSIR, DST and UGC for International travel to present research papers. He is acting as a reviewer for many reputed journals. He has successfully organized about 10 conferences and 5 workshops as a convener in the college. He has recently organized an Indo-UK International conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Energy, Environmental and Health care Applications (ANEH-2019) in collaboration with Swansea University, United Kingdom. He is a member of Indian Science Congress Association and Indian Physics Association and Board of Studies in various Colleges and Universities in and around Tamil Nadu.
