Dr. Mitrajit Chatterjee, M.Sc. (Gold Medallist), PhD is at present Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, Kabi Sukanta Mahavidyalaya (affiliated to The University of Burdwan), Bhadreswar, Hooghly, West Bengal, India. He also possesses additional degrees of P.G. Diploma in Applied Remote Sensing and GIS from Jadavpur University and Master of Population Studies from IIPS, Mumbai. He is actively engaged in teaching Geography in undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the last 10 years. He has published 26 research papers in national and international journals and edited volumes and is the author/editor of 3 books (one international and two national). He is Life Member of several prestigious national academic bodies. He has participated in several international and national seminars and conferences on cross–disciplinary themes and presented 63 conference/seminar papers. He has received Prof N. P. Aiyyar Young Geographers Award 2012 at the 34th Indian Geography Congress. He has the credit of organising two national level seminars. He has successfully completed a UGC minor research project. The main areas of his research interest are land use planning, physico-social and environmental issues in Geography.
