About Dr. Wangkhem Tampakleima Chanu

Wangkhem Tampakleima Chanu is a PhD in Plant Pathology. She is a young researcher and have completed Bachelor of Sciences in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. During her undergraduate studies, 'Plant Pathology' evoked her keen interest. Therefore, she have felt a strong desire to choose a specialized field on plant pathology. Through her M.Sc. studies, she had done extensive survey work, application of different laboratory techniques for rapid isolation, gained knowledge of molecular characterization of microbes, and evaluation of bioagents in the field. During her Ph.D. programme, she have done notable work on the characterization of Fusarium wilt of pea and developed a management strategy for this disease. In the due course of her Ph.D., she have also acquired skills in the field of disease survey and screening of plant genotypes for resistance to various plant diseases, isolation and identification of different pathogens, expertise in molecular detection of various nucleic acid techniques (DNA, RNA isolation and purification), amplification (PCR, reverse transcription-PCR and immunocapture-PCR) procedures, and bioinformatics sequence analysis (primer designing, sequence editing, sequence assembly, BLAST analysis, sequence identity matrices preparation and phylogenetic analysis), management of diseases by using chemical, plant extracts and biocontrol agents and expertise at statistical analysis.Achievement’s/Awards/ PublicationsAwarded Best Article in Agriculture and Food e-newsletter, 2020.
