About Dr. Manoj kumar Gupta
I am Dr Manoj kumar Gupta. I am a Post Graduate Doctor, specialized in Tropical Medicine, Infectious diseases, Diabetes and Liver Disorders. I had done my Graduation (MBBS) in the year 2010 from Midnapore Medical College & Hospital (MMCH) under West Bengal University of Health Sciences. Thereafter I completed my 1 year compulsory Internship at the same Hospital. Subsequently, I did my House staff-ship in Medicine at MMCH for 6 months. Further I joined JNM Medical College, Kalyani as a Junior Resident in the Department of Medicine for a duration of 9 months. Furthmore, I joined RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata in the Department of Pharmacology as a Demonstrator/Tutor in the year 2012. However for pursuing my post-graduation in MD (Tropical Medicine) I had to forgo my post as a Demonstrator at RG Kar Medical College in the year 2014. This however, was to join the most prestigious School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata from where I completed my post-graduation (MD) in 2017. As a post graduate trainee, I managed a wide range of cases particularly infectious and tropical disease (including HIV/TB/scrub typhus etc), liver disorders, rhematological disorders, metabolic diseases especially diabetes mellitus and thyroid disorders. I have also had experience in managing critically ill patients admitted at the critical care unit (CCU) of our hospital. My post graduate training encompassed rotations in Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology and Dermatology, besides my regular training in Tropical Medicine. I had the opportunity of doing a 1 week Observership in the Department of Infectious Diseases at CMC Vellore, a premier Institute. Further I also had a chance of doing a 1 week certificate course in Infectious Diseases at PD Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai during my post-graduate training. Meanwhile, I gathered experience in diabetes and endocrine disorders from KPC Medical College, from where I pursued my IDECC course, that was done in collaboration with the University of New Castle, Australia. Furthermore I had the opportunity of pursuing CCBDEM (Diabetes) from public health foundation of India (PHFI) and Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes from the Prestigious Royal College of Physicians. Moreover, I also had the extreme privilege of doing another post graduate diploma course, Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiology from the eminent Royal College of Physicians. After the completion of my post-graduation (MD) in 2017, I joined School of Tropical Medicine as a Specialist Medical officer (SMO) for 1 year during which I was actively engaged with critical care unit (CCU) of School of Tropical Medicine. Subsequent to that, I joined the Department of Medical Gastroenterology as a Senior Resident in 2018 at the Esteemed Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Currently I am in my 3rd year of Senior Residency. During this Span I have had the experience of performing endoscopy/colonoscopy and have also assisted in several advanced procedures especially ERCP. Besides the above I am actively involved in doing research and teaching post graduates trainees. I have multiple publications in the field of Infectious diseases, liver disorders and endocrinology in reputed national and international journals. In addition I am also the Co-Principal Investigator in two ongoing projects (Hepatitis C, IDA) in the Department of Medical Gastroenterology My areas of interest and research preferences are Bariatric endoscopy, gut microbiome, Liver- Gut- Sugar interactions, Infectious diseases specially Hepatitis B,C and TB.
