About Dr. Jayakumar K
Dr. K. Jayakumar has more than 12 years of research experience in the use of Remote Sensing and GIS for coastal natural resource management and conservation with a special focus on mangrove wetlands, Coastal zones management and hazards mapping and monitoring. From May to November 2006, he worked as a Project Fellow at the Department of Geography at the University of Madras in Storm Water Management project. Between February 2007 and June 2012, he worked as a scientist at the Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory, Coastal System Research, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Chennai, where he engaged in a number of researches, conservation, restoration and management projects related to mangrove forests and coastal disaster. As part of his thesis work, he first developed an open source based WebGIS platform for Godavari Mangrove Forests, Andhra Pradesh, India, for the broader dissemination and usability of Mangrove Information Systems around the world. From 2014 to the present, he works as a Scientist-C for the Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics Centre, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The primary responsibility is to involve the development of organizational innovations, publication of research works, etc.
