About Dr. J. Rathinamala


Dr. J. Rathinamala, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, since 2009 to till date. She is a Doctorate holder in Environmental Microbiology from the Department of Environmental Sciences, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has 25 years of teaching experience and 13 years of Research experience. Her core area of interest is Environmental Microbiology and Environmental Biotechnology and specialized in Bioremediation. Dr. J. Rathinamala has published 26 papers in National and International Journals and presented 30 papers in National and International Conferences.Five of her papers have won Best Paper Awards, in various National and International Conferences. One student has received M.Phil. and 2 students are awarded Ph.D. under her guidance. On going Ph.D. 2 Further TNSCST has funded for a major project and Minor Research Project is sanctioned by UGC in 2017. She is the recipient of Best HoD Award – 2012 and 2019 and P.K. Das Best Faculty Award – 2013 and 2018 awarded by Nehru Group of Institutions. Besides research and teaching experience, she has administrative experience also. She is a member of BoS, Bharathiar University. She has chaired the session and presented a paper in the International Conference on Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Organized by World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, International Scientific Research and Experimental Development, Singapore. She was the Organizing Secretary in an International Conference, 29 th and 30 th Nov.2016 @ KL, Malaysia. (ICIRCBE) She was the Resource Person in Faculty Development Programme (Five day Orientation and Three day Refresher) in Session I and in Session V. The topics were ‘Role Of Teachers’ and ‘Activity Based Learning’ and on Microteaching till date at Nerhu Arts and Science College. And last in the K. R. College, Malapuram. She has reviewed many research articles in World Applied Science Journals (WASJ), Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, Journal of Agricultural and, Biological Sciences, African Journal of Microbiology Research. She is a member in Association of Microbiologists of India, Indian Congress of Science, American Society of Microbiologists and The Vetiver Network International (TVNI). Further she has carried out Collaborative studies with various industries.
