About Dr. Rajat Buragohain
Dr. Rajat Buragohain working as Assistant Professor (Sr. Scale), Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, CAU (Imphal), Aizawl, Mizoram-796014, India since 2006. He did his B.V.Sc. and A.H., M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. from College of Veterinary Sciences, AAU, Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam. Before joining at Central Agricultural University, (Imphal), he served at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tinsukia, Assam under AAU, Jorhat for 3 years, worked at ICAR- NRC on Yak, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh for 2 years and served as Assistant Manager (Production) in Eastern Hatchery Pvt. Limited, Odisha for nearly 1 year. He has in his credit 67 national/international research publications, 3 nos. of books, 7 nos. of review articles, 4 book chapters, 30 nos. of popular articles and 16 nos. of different leaflets/pamphlets. He compiled 9 nos. of practical manuals for different UG and PG courses. He guided 2 Masters’ students and 17 nos. Masters’ students as minor guide. He was associated with 2 nos. of technologies released by Central Agricultural University, Imphal. He has in his credit 2 nos. of radio talks. He completed 3 research projects as PI and 5 as Co-PI funded by CAU and DBT. His research includes identification and nutritional evaluation of unconventional feeds of livestock, studies on phytochemicals, popularizing promising unconventional feeds as substitutes, nutritive values of fermented feeds, use of SSF for value-addition of roughages, alternatives to AGP for pigs and poultry etc. He received Best Researcher and Innovation Award in 2019 and Outstanding Scientist Award in 2020 conferred by Agricultural and Environmental Technology Development Society (AETDS), and got best presentation awards in conference/symposium. He is also associated with activities of NSS, KVK, vocational training, hands-on training programmes etc. of the college. He is also editorial board member and reviewer of national and international Journals.
