About Dr. Renu Bala

Dr. Renu Bala. I have done Ph. D in experimental High energy Physics from University of Jammu. After completing Ph. D , I got Post Doctorate fellowship from University of Torino and then from INFN Torino. I am working in ALICE experiment which is one of the detector at LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. As a part of the ALICE experiment, we are interested in studying the production of charm quarks in heavy-ion collisions. This is one of the studies that aim to obtain the information about possible formation of a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) in the laboratory. Charmed quarks as well as beauty quarks are produced in hard parton-parton scatterings that take place in the early stages of high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. Charmed quarks have a life time longer than the expected lifetime of the QGP and provide a useful instrument to investigate the nuclear effects on parton production, propagation and hadronization in the QGP medium. I have published more than 200 papers as a author/co-author. I have participated in more than 50 International Conference/workshop where I have presented my research work as a talk/poster. I had give more than 300 talks in the National / International meetings/conference/workshop.
