About: Dr. Goutam Ghosh

Dr. Goutam Ghosh completed his Bachelor and Masters in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, Kolkata in 2006 and 2008 respectively. After qualifying CSIR-NET, he joined as Ph.D scholar at the Department of Chemistry, Presidency College, Kolkata (which was affiliated to University of Calcutta) in 2009 under the supervision of Prof. Dipak K. Mandal and received his Ph.D degree in December, 2014 from University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. His research topic was “Folding and Structure of Proteins and Peptides: Studies with Plant Lectins”. After his Ph.D, Dr. Ghosh joined the group Prof. Suhrit Ghosh at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata as postdoctoral researcher in February, 2015 and worked on the topic of “Controlled Supramolecular Polymerization of π-Chromophoric Systems” and he pursued his first postdoctoral research at IACS until March, 2019. After that, he moved to Germany and joined the group of Prof. Gustavo Fernández at the Westfälische Wilhelms Universität (WWU) Münster in April, 2019 for his second postdoctoral stint. Dr. Ghosh has continued his research in Germany until July, 2022. After that, he came back to India and joined group of Prof. Tapas K. Maji at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, India in September, 2022 for another postdoctoral research. Dr. Ghosh has also been involved in investigating “Controlled Supramolecular Polymerization of Peptides” independently. In his 13 years of research career, Dr. Ghosh has published more than 20 research publication in highly reputed and peer reviewed international journals. His current research interest is focused on controlled supramolecular polymerization of various amphiphilic π-systems, metal complexes and biocompatible peptides to develop their applications in various fields ranging from material to biomedicine.
