Dr. Moushumi Datta is currently the Principal of Nagindas Khandwala College (Autonomous). Prof. Datta’s areas of interest range from her first love - Geography, to the latest developments in Management. She is well known for her expertise in Remote Sensing, GIS, GPS, and educational technology. With a teaching experience spanning almost three decades, Prof. Datta has always found the time to conduct and publish research, while at the same time devoting her talents to enhance the quality of Nagindas Khandwala College at the Administrative and Educational level. Prof. Datta earned her doctorate in Geography in 2008. A few years later, she followed it up with a Ph.D. in Management in 2012. Prof. Datta also serves as a recognized Ph.D. Guide for the University of Mumbai. Two students have been awarded the Ph.D. while four are registered. With over 100 publications in her body of work, Prof. Datta has been invited to present papers at Princeton, Middlesex University, Pennsylvania University, Bangkok University and Delaware University. Among the eight research projects under her belt, two are Major Research Projects and one is industry-sponsored. As of April 2022, Prof. Datta already has 3 patents under her belt and at present she is working for a patent of Government of Australia for which her selection is made as the second scientist on a panel of eight scientists. Her body of work has made her the recipients of various awards: 1. “Best Ensemble Faculty Award” – 2012 by EET 2. “Best Researcher Award”, 2013 by EET 3. “Award for Contribution in Research” 2013 by Indus Foundation, USA 4. The Excellent IQAC Coordinator – Thakur Awards - 2022 Recognizing her passion and skills at improving the quality of education at the academic and administrative level, the Management of Nagindas Khandwala College nominated her as part of the panel entrusted to visit and explore best practices of King’s College, (New York), Elizabeth Town College (Philadelphia) and George Washington University (Washington DC). Prior to taking on the reins of the institution as Principal, Prof. Dr. Moushumi Datta was the Vice Principal for four years. Prof. Datta also led various committees in Nagindas Khandwala College, often simultaneously. She was the Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), UGC Add On Courses, NAAC Preparatory Committee (3rd Cycle and 4th Cycle), and the academic Programmes of MA Geography and MSc. Geoinformatics. Prof. Datta has also served as the Convenor for the Attendance Committee and as the Management Representative for the Institution’s ISO certifications. Ever committed to encouraging research and excellence in education, Prof. Datta has organized more than thirty Conferences, Workshops and Training Programmes at National, International and State level. Currently, Prof. Datta is the Institutional Coordinator for RUSA. She is also the life member of seven national professional bodies and the annual member of an international body.
