About Mandira Majumder
I, Mrs. Mandira Majumder take immense pleasure in becoming a member of Institute of Scholars (InSc). I am greatly honored to receive the Research Excellence Award 2020. I see myself as a dedicated researcher concerned with exploring various organic and inorganic materials for application in the field of energy storage. I was born and brought up in Chittaranjan, West Bengal, India (famous for railway locomotive works) in the year 1992. I have completed my schooling from DAV Public School, HCL, Rupnarainpur, India. After completing higher secondary I took admission in Seth Anandram Jaipuria College affiliated to the University of Calcutta, India to pursue B.Sc. (Physics Hons.) in the year 2011. Thereafter, I became a master’s student (Applied Physics) in the Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), Dhanbad, India. During my master’s course I got an opportunity to work with esteemed thermoelectric group of Technical Physics Division of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, India under the valuable supervision of Dr. Shovit Bhattacharya for two months in the year 2015. The experience was really enriching, and it developed in me the urge to become a researcher. Currently, I am a senior research fellow at Indian Institute of technology (ISM), Dhanbad, in the Department of Physics. The doctoral research phase consists of exploring various organic and inorganic electrode material composites for supercapacitor application.I got opportunity to present my research work in various nation and international conference at various places in India. I got awarded with the Best Poster Presentation award in the M-TECS conference, at BARC, Mumbai in the year 2018.Recently, I got lucky enough to get awarded with the prestigious Raman-Charpak Fellowship 2018 and visited University of Lille, France in the year 2019 (March to September). I am thankful to my mentor there, Prof. Sabine Szunerits and Prof. Rabah Boukherroub, who provided me this valuable opportunity to work with their esteemed research group. This visit inculcated in me the quality of adaptation to a new culture and understand the European ethics more closely.Hopefully, I will carry out further research in the field of energy storage materials to bring out fruitful results and will be able to leave impact with my work in the scientific community and humanity, as well.
