 About Dr.  Suresh Kumar P

Dr. Suresh Kumar P, young entrepreneur of startup incubatee Exonn Biosciences in TICEL BIO PARK Ltd., Chennai, and expertise in algal biotechnology, molecular biology, DNA barcoding. Exonn is a research and manufacturing organization, which supports R&D programs in assay development in biology and augmented reality platforms in educations. His research carrier started as a research fellow in a DST – SERB project at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences where he completed his Ph.D. on “Exploration of limnic microalgae for phycoremediation and biorefinery production”. His research work highlights on successful isolation of 150 microalgae species from local freshwater and wastewater regions around Coimbatore, Western ghats of India. His findings alsocover biodiversity, bioremediation and biofuel production of freshwater microalgae. He expertise in molecular identification of microalgae and generated reference DNA barcodes for microalgae identification. He is one of the pioneer people working on algae who developed a DNA barcode for freshwater microalgae species in India.

To his recognition, he has 7 publications in peer-reviewed and reputed journals, filed one Indian Patent and also co-authored 10 book chapters. He presented in 7 international and 7 national conferences and awarded with International Young Scientist Award. He served as a resource personon several DNA barcoding workshops. He also worked as Research Associate at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) where he got experienced in protein biochemistry and protein purification techniques including various chromatography techniques. Also, he worked as a research fellow on the project dealt with the identification of adulterants in tea samples using DNA barcoding and molecular methods.
