About Dr. Shalika Banu
Formation of clubs and its actiivities:
Eco-friendly, blue boys, make india clean and green, use jute and be cute and green clean illuminatorsTogether with the subject taught, i instigate parallel thinking of the students, connect with different concepts of diffeernt subjects, enhance their enterpreneur skill, problem solving skill, confidence and communicative skill, and make them understand the society’s need and do action plans so as to put their thought process in action.I teach the adolescent children of age group 14-16 years which is the key age of any human being. The character and the knowledge got in this age would be the strongest and would lead him/her to a better future. Moreover, in this age they have tons of inquisitiveness and energy. On the other side, internets, facebook, whatsapp, instagram, video games etc., and the unwanted sites opening in these pages would make them uncultured and take them away from reality. I think it is the sole responsibility of a teacher and a school to stream the child’s energy, power and concentration to make positive changes, enhance their problem solving skill and to make them aware the needs of the society.Plastics are also one of the greatest man-made disaster. The whole community uses the thinnest carry bags which is less than 40 microns. These carry bags when hot tea or sambar or any hot food stuff is packed in it, there is an exchange of toxic chemicals into the food. These chemicals include styrene and phenol which may lead to cancer, heart diseases and other reproductive problems. The butchers, fish vendors, fruit vendors do give them in the thinnest plastic cover where there is an at once exchange of poisonous chemicals into the food stuff. Wind once again does its duty. Our community is very lazy as they litter plastic carry bags very easily on the road, the wind carries to different places and to seas also where the sea birds and fishes think it as food and eat, thereby they suffocate and die. The recent flood caused in Chennai is also because of the clogging of plastic covers in the water ways.
OUR ACTIVITIES:
I started clubs with 20 students. We named it as ‘Eco friendly’ club. The motto of this club was to reduce the usage of plastics. Every Saturday the whole school was incorporated to make cloth bags, paper bags using used chart and newspapers. Field work is done on alternative Saturdays, made paper and cloth bags are issued to the shops after the survey. Glass tumblers, stainless steel cups are given to the tea shops where they use the waxed cups. Now the club’s name has been changed as Recently we went away from Saidapet, we went to Guindy, made them aware of the disasters caused by it and issued jute bags, cotton bags, carriers and containers. At the beginning, the public did not accept to our initiatives, many were laughing at us. They denied getting it from us eventhough we gave them freely. They said that if they were going to give the customers the cotton bags, paper bags, foiled covers, the customers would expect for the same always. My students and I did not leave it. After some months, they told that they have raised 2 or 3 rupees of their actual cost and have started to serve the customers ecofriendly. We felt very happy that our persistent efforts have got results.India is a secular and a vast country. It depends on agriculture. Unfortunately, the farmers of us are facing drought and economic crisis. They too lack the entrepreneurship. We recently found a cultivation called ‘Farmlit Cultivation’ to put an end to Farmer’s death which is more prevalent recent times in our country. We named it so because it enlightens farmer’s life. I implemented this idea with the ‘Go green’ club of mine. We started with a miniature set up of farmlit cultivation where less water, no soil and fast yield was possible.
