About Dr. Sarika

Dr. Sarika, Senior Scientist, Centre for Agricultural Bioinformatics, ICAR-IASRI, New Delhi has been working in the field of statistics and agri-computational genomic research for last twelve years. In the field of statistics, she has significant contributions in designs for generating response surfaces. Besides, she has successfully utilized her core competence of agricultural statistics into advance area of Agricultural Bioinformatics by multidisciplinary team work involving crop, animal, fish and microbial domains. Several webservers, state of art databases and tools of computational genomics, which are practically required by the agri-biologists are developed by her which are published in international journals of repute recognizing the value and relevance of her scientific contribution. Her contributions in the field of DNA marker discovery from whole genome, prediction tools involving artificial intelligence/ machine learning approaches is commendable. She has developed > 24 databases having genomic resources and 12 copyrights as product of ICAR to be used in molecular breeding program and germplasm management program pertaining to agriculture productivity. She has been involved in animal breed and variety identification system for variety/ germplasm management and developed world’s first software which can analyze > 50 thousand DNA finger prints. She has also developed universal rapid polymorphism discovery tool for accelerated marker discovery using re-sequenced data of various varieties/breeds of agriculture at ICAR-IASRI and networking with domain/nodal centres. She has undergone her training in Iowa State University of Science and Technology, Ames, Iowa, USA for which she was deputed by ICAR, New Delhi. She has also contributed immensely in HRD as faculty of ICAR-IARI, New Delhi (both, Agricultural Statistics and Bioinformatics). She had been actively contributing in several externally funded and institute projects as Principal Investigator/ Co-Principal Investigator. She has more than 70 papers published in journals of repute and several book chapters and technical bulletins published.
