About Dr. Sachin Onkar Khairnar

Presently working as Assistant Scientist (Senior Scale) in the Department of Aquaculture, College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. He has done his Bachelor of Fisheries Science and Master of Fisheries Science (Aquaculture) from College of Fisheries, Ratnagiri, Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, India and PhD (Aquaculture) from Ocean University of China, Qingdao. Before joining the present organization, he has served in various positions in Fishery Survey of India, Mumbai, India and Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, India. He is actively involved in research work for more than a decade and his research area is mainly focused on breeding and rearing of indigenous and exotic varieties of Carps, catfishes and ornamental fishes, studying their nutritional and feeding regime and most importantly their health management. He is presently handling 02 research projects as Co-I (ICAR & RKVY) and guiding 3 MFSc students with research area on developing plant based protein feed for enhancing fish growth and health status. He has authored more than 25 research papers and 10 technical papers in reputed International and National journals. He is also the recipient of Chinese Government Scholarship for pursuing PhD program in OUC, Qingdao during 2010-13. For his research contribution in field of aquaculture, Samgra Vikas Welfare Society has conferred him with Young Scientist Award in 2019 during International conference held at Kanpur.
