I Dr. Neelam Das, D/O Late Junior Warrant Officer Samar
Chandra Das was selected for the title “InSc Research Excellence Award (REA) 2020”. I
came from a small city, called Kanpur (Dehat) in Uttar Pradesh. Although financial not
sound, after the sudden painful demise of my father on duty in Indian Air Force due to
cardiac arrest, in my B.D.S final year, with the help of scholarship from State Government of
Uttar Pradesh, I completed by graduation on 2016. Because of only my mother spirit and hard
work, I completed M.D.S and I achieved “2 nd University Topper and Topper in the
Department of Periodontology and Implantology” with distinction marks i.e 77 %
marks from Rama Dental College Hospital & Research Centre, Kanpur (UP) in 2019.
I completed M.D.S (Periodontics) in 2016-2019. I showed dedication and determination in
the subject of periodontics. I presented my scientific research in national level in the name of
poster and paper presentations. I attended many continuing dental education programmes,
workshops and courses in state and national level. I treated variety of cases with different
techniques in periodontology like Soft tissue and Hard tissue procedures by lasers and electro
surgery, Various Periodontal Flaps, Reconstructive Periodontal Therapy, Surgical
Management of Endo-Perio Lesions, Pre-Prosthetic Surgery (Frenectomy, Vestibuloplasty,
Coronoplasty, Splinting, Alveoloplasty, Ridge Augmentation), Soft Tissue Esthetics
(Depigmentation, Root Coverage by various techniques), Socket Preservations and Implant
Placements with Ridge Augmentation Procedures.
I am working as Assistant professor in the Department of Periodontology and
Implantology in Rama Dental College Hospital & Research Centre since August 2019. I did
Associate Fellowship in Lasers Dentistry by WCLI, USA in Dec 2019. I received many
National Awards as follows:
 Selected as Winner for Best PG Student (Periodontology) of the year award 2019
in Indian Health Professional awards 2019 (Healthcare Oscar Of India) held on
21 th Dec at Pune.
 Got a “Gold Medal”, “Dr. B.S. Kushwah Merit Award” in recognition of securing
first position in Periodontology University examination 2019 held on 15 th Feb at
Rama Dental College Hospital & Research Centre, Kanpur.
 Nominated for the Best PG Student of the year award 2019 in the Prestigious
Famdent Excellence in Dentistry Awards 2019 held on 24 th Nov at Mumbai.
 Nominated for the Best PG Student of the year and Rising star of the year awards
in the Indian Dental Diva Awards 2020 held on 23 rd Feb at Pune.
I feel by getting this InSc Research Excellence Award, it definitely help me to
recognize in the fraternity which makes my mother proud and also give other girls a boost to
achieve their goal in any unfortunate circumstances.
